Marketer of the year


Task: Submit 2000 words relating to a marketing project, outlining your level of contribution to the project and outstanding levels of innovation, influence and effectiveness. Judges will be looking for evidence regarding use of insights, impressive strategic approach and putting the customer at the heart of the project. Look at the judging criteria to see how your influence will be measured.

Entry criteria:
• Background: outline the challenge you faced, show levels of marketing knowledge and inspiration in considering market(s), customer(s), competition, insights developed, environment and processes.
• Aims and objectives of the initiatives.
• Strategy and plan and how it has been implemented – outline levels of innovation in bringing the strategy to life and your levels of responsibility.
• Evidence of collaboration with stakeholders; employees, customer and influencers; to include testimonials.
• Measurable results and evidence of the positive impact on the business – show levels of financial and commercial awareness.
• Customer expectations and how they were met or exceeded.
• Provide a brief summary of why you feel you deserve recognition by ACEF. Identify personal contribution, together with the skills and attributes that were unique or crucial to the success.

Timeline: April 2017 - July 2018

Judging criteria:
• Strengths in assessing the task; evidence of consideration of markets, challenges and the competition .
• Demonstrates exceptional understanding of marketing, budget management and level of commerciality, and that the entry captures how their marketing skills have added demonstrable contribution to the success of the project .
• Demonstrates creativity, innovation and inspiration during strategy setting, campaign planning and implementation .
• Displays outstanding leadership, responsibility and collaboration that contributed to the success of the marketing project .
• Levels of influence, decisiveness, drive and passion shown .

In-house marketing academy


Recognising the importance of investing in your organisation’s marketing capabilities is critical. Putting your staff through a bespoke academy focused on leading and best practice can be a highly effective way of escalating levels of capability and ultimately driving business performance. It also shows your commitment to ‘people investment’, leading to improvements in staff retention, loyalty and morale.
ACEF is in a unique position to be able to identify excellence in the way many leading brands achieve great results through developing their teams by setting up internal marketing academies, to fill skills gaps and stay at the cutting edge of the marketing industry.

Task: Submit 2000 word outlining:

• Buy in from staff – how did you achieve support.
• Results and learnings.
• Follow up and assessing next stage.
• Compelling argument as to the relevance and achievement for recognition by ACEF

Judging criteria:
• Clarity of insight into the need for an academy as the best solution .
• Evidence of pertinent aims and objectives .
• Justification of shape and format of programme .
• Level of achievement .
• Relevance of follow up and application of learnings .

Marketing campaign of the year


The last financial year have seen some of the most powerful and memorable marketing campaigns targeting the audience. We’ve seen campaigns that have outshone all of their competitors, campaigns for gaps in the market and campaigns for finding remarkable new ways to engage with target audiences. This Award brings the opportunity for proud marketers to show-off to thousands of their peers. Submit your best marketing campaigns to our judges, who will shortlist the best and then invite all marketers to vote for their favourite. Two key factors for scoring will be:

• Innovation beyond the single channel.
• Impact on the business.

Task: Marketing campaign/project.

• Background: outline the challenge you faced; you may wish to include information such as your market(s), customer(s), competition, insights developed, environment, processes, stakeholders, etc.
• Aims and objectives of the campaign.
• Overall plan and how it has been implemented.
• Evidence of collaboration with stakeholders; employees, customer and influencers; to include testimonials.
• Measurable results.
• Customer expectations and how they were met or exceeded.
• Provide a brief summary of your project and include why you feel it deserves recognition as the best marketing campaign of the year.

Judging criteria:
• An innovative, original and creative approach that includes consideration of markets, challenges, competition and changing customer needs .
• Evidence of quantifiable aims/objectives and timelines .
• Relevance and justification of the marketing plan .
• Presentation of results and evaluation using relevant metrics e.g. return on investment, evidence of positive changes in customer behaviour, improved satisfaction in customers and other stakeholder groups or sustainable added value to the organisation .
• Compelling argument as to the innovation and uniqueness of this project for recognition by marketers .

Marketing leader of the year


True marketing leaders have great clarity around the purpose and relevance of how marketing can shape and drive business strategy. Their strong influence leads and champions marketing across the organisation. They benefit from the strength of collaboration and ensure the business bottom line benefits from robust insights and outstanding marketing efforts.
Marketing leaders set the bar higher, lead marketing to redefine customer expectations and shape positive customer perceptions of the brand; investment in talent and marketing capabilities will be at the forefront of development plans for the future.

• Measurable results and evidence of the positive impact on the business.
• Customer perceptions and expectations; and how they were not just met but exceeded.
• Provide a brief summary of why you feel you deserve recognition by ACEF. Identify personal contribution together with the skills and attributes that were unique or crucial to the success.

• Demonstrates exceptional understanding of marketing and commerciality that have generated positive impact to the business bottom line .
• Demonstrates creativity, innovation and inspiration during strategy setting, plus drive to maximise marketing talent and capabilities.
• Displays outstanding leadership, risk assessment and levels of collaboration .
• Levels of influence, decisiveness, drive and passion shown .

Marketing team of the year


If you and your team are proud of the significant contribution you have made to the success of your organisation’s marketing then you need to get the recognition you deserve. There is an award waiting for the marketing team that has really made the difference; that has leveraged creativity and innovation towards achieving the organisation’s strategic aims and objectives.

Task: 2000 words outlining levels of collaboration, innovation and effectiveness leading to the success of a significant marketing project. Judges will be looking for evidence regarding use of powerful insights, a great strategic approach and putting the customer at the heart of the project. Look at the judging criteria to see how your entry will be assessed.

• Background: Explain the context and the marketing environment the team was operating in. Show how you considered market(s), customer(s), competition, insights developed, environment, processes and stakeholders. Identify areas that showcase your team’s outstanding marketing understanding.
• Aims and objectives of the initiative(s).
• Strategy and how it was implemented – highlight levels of leadership and inspiration in delivering the optimum solution, include levels of innovation and responsibility and highlight how you ensured consideration of customer need was at the heart of the strategy.
• Evidence of collaboration with stakeholders; employees, customer and influencers; to include testimonials.
• Measurable results and evidence of the positive impact on the business – show levels of financial and commercial awareness.
• Evidence of strong team-working and collaboration in order to achieve a set of shared key objectives. Provide a brief summary of why you feel your team deserve recognition by ACEF. Identify personal contribution together with the skills and attributes that were unique or crucial to the success.

Judging criteria:
• Strength of understanding about the objectives set; evidence of consideration about markets, challenges and the competition.
• Demonstration of exceptional understanding of marketing principles and practice; use of insights, selecting the right channels, financials and levels of commerciality. How does the entry communicate how the team’s marketing skills added demonstrable contribution to the success of the overall goals .
• Demonstration of creativity, innovation and inspiration during planning and implementation .
• Outstanding team work and collaboration that contributed to the success of the marketing project .

Agency of the year


We are looking to reward agencies who have excelled at using world-class creativity, insight and innovative approaches to bringing marketing strategy to life for their clients. Whatever your area of expertise, be it branding, engagement or partnership marketing to name but a few, show us your successes and why you are the best.

Task: Submit 2000 words covering:
• Summary: describe your agency; what you do; and why you do it
• Track record: outline the success of your agency and explain how you achieve this; how do you fuel those bright ideas, how do you innovate with insight and research findings?
• Campaigns: Share your most successful campaign(s):
o For your clients – how did they meet their objectives and needs? Where was innovation and creativity the winning point? What was the impact on customer experience and engagement?
o For you – why were the campaigns successful? How did you bring the client’s marketing strategy to life?
• Achievements and results: outline your contribution, achievements and results: people, clients, campaigns and customers.
• Summary: Why should you win Agency of the year? Focus on innovation, creativity, ‘firsts’, custodianship of brands, client relationships and reputation.

• Clarity of understanding clients’ needs and solutions provided .
• Level of creativity and innovation in approach and solutions .
